Widespread frost and freeze Friday morning then some showers possible for trick-or-treat weekend
Friday morning is the coldest morning of the season so far with lows dropping into the 20s and 30s. We did see a few clouds in some northern and lakeside areas which kept temps in check early in the night but as those clouds cleared the temps tumbled. Western counties were the coldest areas with a hard freeze and lows dropping into the 20s.
Milwaukee stayed above the freezing mark but still dealt with a widespread frost and lows in the mid 30s. It wasn't just the first frost of the season in Milwaukee but also the first time they lows dropped into the 30s at all. That came well later than the average of October 2nd and is the latest first morning in the 30s since 2017.
Another round of frost and freeze may be possible Friday night into Saturday morning but it all depends on how fast the clouds clear. If the clouds roll in fast we could stay a bit warmer but if they don't arrive until morning we will be colder. A fairly widespread frost is expected inland with that chance at a freeze. Lakeside might see a patchy frost.
After Saturday morning, low temps will warm up into the low to middle 40s doing away with any big frost or freeze concerns.
The clouds that increase Friday night into Saturday will also bring a chance for isolated showers with them as we head into Saturday. Over the last 24 hours most weather models have trended a bit wetter Saturday bringing in at least a few isolated showers from mid-morning through the early evening. Grabbing the umbrella for trick-or-treating Saturday would be a good idea. Temperatures for trick-or-treating both Saturday and Sunday start in the mid 50s in the afternoon then fall to around 50 by the evening.
