MADISON, Wis. (CBS 58) -- After more than a year of negotiations, a new trade agreement was reached for the US, Canada , and Mexico.
The new agreement reveals Canada is opening its dairy market to US farmers meaning Wisconsin farmers can send over more milk products.
"I'm thrilled. I think it's a good deal. I think it will help the US dairy farmers. I think working with Canada is good for both countries," said Sherry Siemers-Peterman, a dairy farmer.
Canadian farmers aren't as thrilled. The new trade deal gives 3.6% market access to American producers. For many Canadians, that means lost jobs on the farm and in processing plants.
