West Bend snow removal crews prepare for significant snow

CBS 58

WEST BEND, Wis. (CBS 58) — As a winter storm is expected to make its way through Southeastern Wisconsin, plow companies are preparing for long hours of work.

Aron Rodman at Extra Mile Snow Plowing in West Bend said his commercial snowplow drivers began their preparations on Sunday, March 15.

“We’re going to try to get a coat of salt on everything before it freezes up before it turns into snow,” Rodman said.

Rodman says around 3 a.m. on Monday, around 75 plow drivers will make their way out for snow removal. Rodman says with most of the significant storms this season happening early, crews have been anticipating another storm.

“We’ve been twiddling our thumbs waiting for this snow for a month and a half. It was snowing every other day, looking like it was going to be the best year ever, and then it just stopped. So honestly, we’ve been ready for this storm for about a month and a half,” Rodman said.

Rodman’s employees aren’t the only ones celebrating. Tim Lohre, who lives in the West Bend areas, said his March 15 birthday sometimes comes with winter conditions with Wisconsin weather.

“Had snowstorms like this on my birthday before, so it doesn’t surprise me,” Lohre said.

Lohre said his family’s home was without power on Sunday. He drove to an area gas station in slick conditions.
