10:30pm Update:

Snow has now entered in from the south for almost all of us falling at a steady rate.  Wind gusts have picked up and are ranging anywhere from 45 up to 60mph for Milwaukee!  Visibility is very reduced already and will continue to get worse through tonight.  Please be safe.

8pm Update:

All counties have been upgraded to a Blizzard Warning that is in effect now until 4pm tomorrow.  Northerly winds of 40 to 45 MPH combined with high snow rates will lead to blizzard conditions with visibilities less than 1/4 mile.  Heavy snow is expected to fall at a rate of an inch per hour working from west to east.  Travel is expected to be difficult for the AM commute.

The last Blizzard Warning in Milwaukee was 792 days ago.

6pm Update:

Our Winter Weather Advisory goes live in about an hour.  Otherwise, the remainder of the forecast is staying the same.  Here is an updated look at snowfall totals for the entirety of this system.

3:45pm Update:

All types of precipitation are happening now!  The pink color on the radar is indicating ice or freezing rain, and ice has already started to accumulate.  As temperatures are dropping quickly with snow following behind, a flash freeze is becoming possible.  This means any wet roadways will almost immediately turn to ice leading to dangerous travel.

Out ahead of the colder air, temps are generally holding into the mid-30s surrounding Milwaukee County keeping heavy rain going on.  Our warm front is holding far enough south that a hail threat is becoming less, but our wind threat still holds until we all change over to snow tonight.

The remainder of the forecast is still holding with our Winter Storm Warning now active.

Update as of 10:15 AM Sunday, March 15th...

The National Weather Service has started the Winter Storm Warning a little early for Dodge, Fond du Lac, and Sheboygan Counties because of ice moving in from the west.  Please use extreme caution if you have to travel. The warning will hold until 4 PM Monday.  Behind the ice will be snow moving in later today and tonight. Across the metro, a Winter Weather Advisory will go into effect at 10 PM. It goes until 4 PM Monday. General 2-4"+ amounts can be expected around Milwaukee and Waukesha with much more to the north and less to the south.

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58)--A very sorted forecast to say the least. A Winter Weather Advisory is in place until 10 AM for Ozaukee and Washington Counties. For the counties north and west of there, the advisory holds until 4 PM. Several inches of ice and snow can be expected in this general vicinity. Then we shift our focus to a Winter Storm Warning in this region from Sunday evening until Monday late in the day. For the metro area and points south and west, we have a Winter Weather Advisory from 10 PM this evening until 4 PM on Monday.

Look for rain on Sunday along with the chance for storms.  Just realize the farther north you go of I-94, it'll be mixy. Expect a changeover to snow for all of us late Sunday night into Monday morning early. The wind will be howling as well from the north and west.  Blowing snow is a possibility on Monday. The snow should taper off later in the afternoon but not before leaving 2 to 4 inches across the metro, less to the south, and much more to the north.

We have another snow chance on Wednesday, but 50-degree temps could be in the works by the end of the week.
