West Bend man named as finalist for Packers’ FAN Hall of Fame

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) – A West Bend man is named one of the finalists for the Packers’ FAN Hall of Fame.

According to the organization, 89-year-old Leo DeGroot is one of ten finalists for the honor.

In a description on the voting website, DeGroot is described as the “#1 Dad and Packer Backer”. The description goes on to explain DeGroot’s longstanding loyalty to the Green and Gold, “Even during the "Dark Days" of the 70s and 80s, Dad remained loyal in his love for the Green and Gold. During this time, he added 4 new Packer Backers to the house. If he wasn't at the game, he was watching it with his family. We would listen to the church sermon, which usually mentioned the Packers, and then rush home to watch pre-game”.

Fans can read all ten finalists’ profiles and vote online through January 31.

Voters will be entered to win merchandise. The winner will be announced in late 2021 and have his or her name added to the list of FAN Hall of Fame honorees, receive a Packers Pro Shop gift certificate and game tickets, airfare and hotel accommodations paid for an away game.
