'We were speechless': 3 cars totaled after crash in West Allis, man arrested for OWI
WEST ALLIS, Wis (CBS 58) -- A quiet West Allis neighborhood is in shock after a driver plowed through several parked cars on the side of the road Sunday night, March 8.
"We got here and all the neighbors were outside," said Jasmin Gaeta, car totaled.
According to police, the incident happened just after 9 p.m. Three unoccupied cars at 96th and Lapham were struck.
"We were very surprised that happened it was complete shock we were speechless when we got home," said Gaeta.
Gaeta and her husband came home to police lights and debris covering their street.
"We saw a whole bunch of car parts all over the street as we got closer to our house, we saw that our car crashed all the way, a total loss," said Gaeta.
They noticed their Toyota Camry was pushed roughly 50 feet from where they left it.
"It's crazy to me how he was able to get so far, to cause so much damage he rammed into cars. Our car was parked right here by the driveway, and it ended up all the way by the stop sign," Gaeta.
Jasmin says the driver was in an SUV and stayed until police came.
"Honestly from all the impact you would think it was a bigger vehicle. I was just surprised the car could endure all that impact and how he was able to walk out the car like nothing," said Gaeta.
Police arrested a 56-year-old man from West Allis for an OWI.
Thankfully no one was hurt.
