"We just stole a stop sign:" West Bend stop sign thieves busted thanks to Snapchat

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Washington County Sheriff's Office responded to the 5500 block of Clearview Road for a report of youths taking down signs.

The first responding deputy located an 18-year-old West Bend man exposing his backside to the deputy in the middle of the road.

Multiple individuals were located at a nearby residence and cited for underage drinking.

The stop signs were recovered and the damage was repaired by city workers.

The 18-year-old denied his involvement in the theft until investigators showed him a Snapchat of him holding one of the missing signs with the caption, "We just stole a stop sign."

In addition to underage drinking, the 18-year-old suspect will be facing charges and restitution for the stop sign.
