We Energies works to restore power after another round of storms

GLENDALE, Wis. (CBS 58) – Crews from out of state contracted by We Energies are working around the clock to restore power after significant storms in Southeast Wisconsin.

Alison Trouy, a spokesperson for the energy company, says 11,000 customers have had power restored since 5 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 12.

“Our men and women have been working nonstop since the first storm rolled through Saturday, and dealing with lots of challenges out there,” Trouy said. “Storms like this aren’t unfamiliar to us but they are still very challenging.”

Scott Seager, an operations supervisor for We Energies, said a crew working in Glendale was contracted by the energy company for extra manpower. Seager said flooding and downed trees continue to create obstacles for crews.

“I’ve never seen anything like this,” Seager said. “Access is a big point and the conductivity that electricity will have through water is also a scare. So these guys will just have to be extra safe.”

If you are experiencing a power outage, you can report it to We Energies through their app. They also have a live map that shows areas impacted by power outages.

If you are in an area with downed powerlines, We Energies recommends staying at least 25 feet away from them out of an abundance of caution as crews continue to address them.

“We truly have hundreds of men and women out there working as hard as they can, 16-hour shifts to make sure we get power back on as quickly as we can.”
