Wauwatosa Police looking for suspects after teacher is robbed and held at gunpoint near school
WAUWATOSA (CBS 58) - Wauwatosa Police are looking for the suspects who robbed and held a teacher at gunpoint on a nearby street outside Christ King School on Thursday morning.
The school notified parents that morning.
“I was scared for the teacher, praying she was okay and I was shocked because it happened in a safe neighborhood," said Kevin Hughes, parent.
The teacher parked her car around 6:45 in the morning, she got out and was standing by her car when a dark-colored minivan approached her. A person got out wearing a mask and pointed a gun at her. Police say they didn't say anything and stole her bag.
They were last seen taking off northbound on 91st towards Center.
Wauwatosa Police believe it was an isolated incident and it's important that people are always aware of their surroundings no matter where they go.
Christ King School quickly made some changes. Teachers no longer have to park on surrounding streets. Now, they can park on the school lot.
“Given the scenario absolutely, the kids may complain about the playground getting smaller but for safety, it’s a smart idea," said Hughes.
Police are asking neighbors who live near 91st and Clarke streets and have surveillance to contact them.
“If they have cameras in their house that are focusing on the driveway or their front door or that sort of thing that camera may have captured something that we could particularly use in our investigation," said Lt. Jack Morrison.
