Wausau woman thanks stranger for paying for dog's medical bills

WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAW) -- A Wausau woman is praising a total stranger for taking her dog to the hospital for emergency surgery after it was hit by a car.

Delilia Isvorski said her dog Max was playing outside with his family when he wandered away.

She said they searched the neighborhood and checked various social media sites.

They learned Sunday that Max had been hit by a car.

A passerby, Laura Berry said she saw group of people standing over the dog and took it upon herself to take Max to an emergency vet for treatment. Max suffered fractures in both his hind legs.

He had surgery in Appleton and came home Tuesday night.

Laura has been in touch with the family throughout Max's entire journey and even paid for the medical expenses-- about $4,000 with more medical care needed.

"He's well on his way to recovery. And I'm happy for him that he gets to recover and fortunate to have someone like Laura to give him that chance,” Isvorski said.
