Waukesha South High School Honors Teammate

An area basketball team hit the hardwood Tuesday night honoring one of their teammates.

Waukesha South High School hosted a Be The Match game, where people could sign up to become bone marrow donors.

One of their teammates, Zach, was diagnosed with leukemia a few years ago.

Zach got a bone marrow transplant, but passed away from complications about two years ago.

Zach’s mom Lisa Kukec says the transplant gave Zach and his family precious, extra time to create more memories. “With his bone marrow transplant he became cancer free, and was allowed to have several more years here with us so that we could create many more memories with our family. So if signing up to be a bone marrow donor is a simple swab in the mouth, and if you are that person, you could save someone's life.”
