Waukesha Fire Department responds to basement fire; one injured
WAUKESHA, Wis. (CBS 58) --- The Waukesha Fire Department was dispatched to a report of a fire on Cardinal Drive around 6 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 10.
Officials say units on scene were able to make an "aggressive" fire attack, locate, and extinguish a fire in the basement of the 2-story duplex.
The occupants were alerted to the fire by working smoke detectors throughout the building, according to a news release.
The fire was contained to the basement of the duplex.
One subject was treated for minor burns at the scene, but was not transported to the hospital.
Waukesha Police Department and WE Energies helped assist the Waukesha Fire Department.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. However, fire officials are reminding citizens of the importance of working smoke detectors and to always be aware of the dangers of lit candles.
