WAUKESHA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A Waukesha church gathered in prayer Tuesday after one of their congregation members was detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents.
Ascension Lutheran Church tells us it happened early Tuesday morning, May 20. They say one of their pastors immediately went to the home of the church member and interacted with ICE agents.
The individual was detained and taken to an ICE detention center in Milwaukee before being released with monitoring.
"It's always a little bit of a shock when all of a sudden the things that you hear happen other places are happening in your own backyard or in our congregation," said Pastor Christian Marien.
We reached out to ICE for details, but they declined to comment.
