WATERTOWN, Wis. (CBS 58) -- On Thursday, May 29, around 7:06 p.m. the Watertown Police Department responded to a report of a suspicious object on a gas meter, which was believed to be an explosive device. 

Law enforcement secured the scene, restricted access and began evacuation of nearby residents. 

The device was determined not to be an actual explosive. 

No further details have been released at this time as the investigation remains active. 

WATERTOWN, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Watertown Police Department is investigating a report of a possible pipe bomb in the area of S. 3rd St. and Market St in Watertown. 

Law enforcement is working on securing the scene and evacuating residents in the nearby area. 

They are advising people to avoid the downtown area until further notice and will provide updates as soon as the area is deemed safe.
