Watch: We Energies shows just how dangerous the 'outlet challenge' is

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A new social media challenge is putting kids at risk. 

The "outlet challenge" encourages kids to plug a phone charger into a wall, leaving enough space to drop a penny in between the wall and the outlet. When the penny hits the prongs of the charger, a rush of electric current happens.

We Energies says the outlet challenge can result in damage to the electrical system in your house, a fire or serious injury. 

The company shared video of their highly-trained staff showing just how dangerous the outlet challenge is.
