Washington County records its first fatal crash of 2019

WEST BEND, WI (CBS 58) -- Washington County recorded its first fatal car accident of 2019 Friday night.  According to the Washington County Sheriff’s office, a 43-year-old Jackson man was killed when the vehicle he was driving collided with a second vehicle on Highway 33 and Riesch Road in the Township of West Bend around 8:30 Friday night.

According to the accident report, one of the vehicles was traveling eastbound in the westbound lane when the two vehicles collided head-on.    The 43-year-old man was trapped inside his vehicle and died at the scene.   The driver of the second vehicle, a 38-year-old man from Eden, Wisconsin was reported to be uninjured.   His passenger, a 31-year-old woman was taken to Froedtert Hospital  for treatment of leg and back injuries. 

The west bound lane of HWY 33 was closed for about three hours as authorities investigated the accident.    The names of the persons involved in the crash have not been released.
