Washington County officials find missing 80-year-old boater dead

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Washington County Sheriff's Office has announced that they believe they have found the boater who went missing on Wednesday, Oct. 18 was found dead shortly before 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 22.
They reportedly responded to a call from a boater on Pike Lake who believed they had located the lost boater submerged underwater.
Officials noted that deputies responded to the scene alongside the Washington County Dive Rescue team, finding the man's body a "short distance offshore" in water that was approximately six feet of water between the beach and the boat ramp at Pike Lake State Park.
The incident remains under investigation, according to the Washington County Sheriff's Office.

HARTFORD, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Authorities are searching for a boater who went missing on Pike Lake in the town of Hartford on Wednesday, Oct. 18.
The Washington County Sheriff's Office said they received a call just after 9 p.m., from a person reporting her 80-year-old husband had gone out to the lake several hours earlier and had not returned.
Officials were able to locate the man's truck and boat trailer at the Pike Lake State Park boat launch.
During the search, deputies located the man's unoccupied boat on the east shore of the lake.
The Washington County Sheriff's Office Dive Team was called, along with several fire departments and the Wisconsin State Patrol.
The search was suspended after several hours Wednesday night and will resume Thursday.
The incident remains under investigation.
