MILWAUKEE (CBS58) --- The driver arrested following Friday afternoon's crash that killed two Marquette University students and left two other students injured reportedly was drinking before the crash.

According to a warrant obtained by CBS 58, on Friday around 5 p.m. at the intersection of 27th St. and St. Paul in Milwaukee, the 41-year-old driver was driving a 2011 Ford Ranger when they hit a Silver Grand Cherokee which had six people inside.

Two of its occupants, Noah Snyder and Michael Michaud, were pronounced dead at the scene.

During the field sobriety test, the driver reportedly could not keep balance, stopped walking, stepped off the line, missed heel to toes, didn't take an appropriate turn and took the wrong number of steps. They showed 14/18 indications of intoxication during the test.

The driver was taken into custody for the charge of operating while intoxicated causing death, and according to the warrant, the driver has a prior OWI conviction from 2003.

CBS 58 is not naming the driver at this time, since they have not been formally charged.

That area is one that's seen many incidents. One block over, on 26th & St. Paul, crews were working to repair a guardrail that had been damaged during another crash that happened Wednesday afternoon. On Tuesday around 7:30AM, two teenagers on their way to school were shot at by another vehicle in what they describe as road rage. Milwaukee Police are searching for an unknown suspect in that case.
