Waldo Firefighter Dies in Wreck, Two Others Firefighters Injured
A community of firefighters is mourned the loss of one of their own in Sheboygan County Sunday evening.
31-year-old Ryan Moyer, a firefighter with the Waldo Fire Department, died in a crash Saturday afternoon, according to a press release from the Sheboygan County Sheriff's Department.
Two other firefighters were also injured in that wreck. Nicholas TeBeest, 26, is currently at ThedaCare Medical Center in Neenah with serious injuries. Tyler Collins, 26, was sent to Aurora Sheboygan Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
TaBeest and Collins are also both firefighters for the Waldo Fire Department, a fellow firefighter who asked not to be named said.
Flowers hung off work boots in front of the Waldo Fire Department to honor Moyer. Fellow firefighters said he was a father to a three-month-old son.
According to a press release, Moyer was driving the truck that went off the road on Saturday afternoon. It was about 4:30 p.m. when his vehicle went off the road at the intersections of Blueberry Lane and Pheasant Valley Road in the Town of Lyndon.
Sheboygan County authorities said Moyer was trapped under the vehicle and declared dead at the scene.
A fellow Waldo Firefighter said - even in the moment of the crash - Moyer had been working to promote the fire department by handing out or hanging up fliers for this year's upcoming Brat Fry benefit for new equipment.
The crash investigation is ongoing. The Sheboygan County Sheriff's Office reports speed and alcohol are being looking at as potential factors.
