Meet CBS 58’s Pet of the Week: Joey
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Marquette University is offering blind athletes a chance to participate in their favorite sports.
Vision Forward kicked off the fifth year of a three-day sports camp at Rex Plex on Marquette's campus.
According to the group, nearly 70-percent of all blind students don't participate in youth sports.
It's a statistic Vision Forward hopes to change.
"Conquering a challenge, being able to prove that they can do this just like their sighted peers can, and they get to have fun and they get to be part of a team," Emily Zajork of Vision Forward said.
The camp is put on by volunteers. The kids learned some judo and soccer on Monday.
They'll learn some dance moves on Tuesday, along with a game or two of goal-ball, a game specifically designed for the vision-impaired.
