NOW: ’My porch was all smashed in:’ Video captures hit-and-run crash on Milwaukee’s south side

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Two men are seen causing hundreds of dollars in damage to cars and a home in the city’s south side, and it was all caught on camera.

A totaled Ford Taurus and a damaged porch are seen in the video as part of the aftermath left behind by two men.

In the video, captured by a viewer, you see them get back into the dark SUV and slam into a parked minivan and then leave the scene on foot.

“We don’t know where these people are,” says Alondra Garcia. “I’m trying to find them in order for them to pay for what they did, the damage they caused.”

Garcia’s family car was parked near 14th and Windlake Friday night when the crash happened.

“We’re now dealing with trying to find a new car,” says Garcia. “My dad works mornings, so it’s figuring out how he’s going to find transportation, if he needs a ride. Do I need to take him to work?”

Being strapped for cash, the family could only afford liability insurance.

But they weren’t the only ones affected by Friday night’s domino effect.

“The whole side of my porch was all smashed in,” says Edward Dougherty. “They took down part of my bush.”

Dougherty is now facing a $2,500 deductible, a price tag a bit out of reach for this retired couple whose wife is also a cancer patient.

“I’d like to see tougher laws, I really would,” says Dougherty. “Especially with drunk driving.”

“I hope we find a better solution to it,” says Garcia. “This is getting out of hand.”

The incident remains under investigation by the Milwaukee Police Department.
