RACINE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Veterans Outreach of Wisconsin (VOW) is preparing to feed 500 veteran families this Thanksgiving. That means they need 500 turkeys, 500 boxes of stuffing and all of the fixings that go along with a holiday dinner.
"So we build turkey baskets," said Darren Kruse, the market director of VOW. "We have about 500 signed up this year. We also do Christmas basket giveaways and then we have a toy drive, toy giveaways for the kids with Santa and presents."
That's about 150 more people than they provided a holiday dinner for last year.
If you're looking to help out veterans this holiday season, VOW is looking for many other donations aside from Thanksgiving. You can donate clothes, full-size toiletries and more.
Any veteran can utilize the market. The Tiny Home Village at VOW helps struggling veterans get back on their feet.
