UWM employee tests positive for coronavirus

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The City of Milwaukee Health Department has confirmed one case of COVID-19 in a UWM employee.

In a university update March 17, Chancellor Mark Mone said more confirmed cases are expected in the coming days given that it is a large institution.

The university also announced that all onsite, non-essential operations will be moved to virtual or remote methods by no later than noon March 18, and those who cannot work remotely may be eligible for COVID-19 leave.

This provides up to 80 hours of paid leave for employees who can't perform their duties during the pandemic emergency due to inability to work remotely, self-quarantine, self-isolation, illness, care of an immediate family member, or child/elder care due to school and day care closures.
