UW Coach Bo Ryan announced retirement to give time for planning

University of Wisconsin's Basketball Coach Bo Ryan said he announced his retirement to give the team some time to prepare. Ryan made this statement in an impromptu press conference on June 30,

\"Even if I'm not coaching I will still be a Badger,\" Ryan said.

Ryan said he plans on staying connected to the team and Wisconsin after retirement.

Ryan said he is focusing now on getting his current team ready for the season.

\"I have 16 guys that want to get ready. I think they need the coaches and experience this year. We are not a seasoned team this year we have alot of work to do,\" Ryan said.

Ryan said there was a culmination of reasons that led to his decision, and he wanted to give time for planning.

\"How many coaches get to do it this way and not get pushed out,\" Ryan said.
