Upset-minded Panthers held off at Notre Dame

UWM's Panthers had designs of an upset at 18th-ranked Notre Dame Tuesday night, but one of their best efforts of the season wasn't quite good enough in an 86-78 loss.

Akeem Springs led the Panthers with 21 points, and Austin Arians added 19 as the Panthers built a six point lead late in the first half. Notre Dame rallied and pulled ahead by eight at the half, and despite 16 points and 13 rebounds from Matt Tiby and 11 points and ten rebounds from Jordan Johnson, the Panthers couldn't pull even again.

Milwaukee is 3-1 after winning all three games at the Cable Car Classic in Santa Clara, California over the weekend. Notre Dame received 81 points from their starting five as they moved to 2-0 on the young season.
