United Neighborhood Centers of Milwaukee holds turkey, pie giveaway in Lindsay Heights neighborhood
CBS 58 MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- United Neighborhood Centers of Milwaukee (UNCOM) is getting the community ready for Thanksgiving.
They handed out turkeys and pies to people in need Monday, Nov. 24, at the Wellness Commons building on North Avenue. Funding was provided by the Forest County Potawatomi Foundation.
UNCOM says this is the fifth year they've distributed food to neighbors in Milwaukee's Lindsay Heights area. Their director says programs like this show how much the community matters to them.
"People in this community are hardworking, loving people and are grateful for the additional help this time of year, with food," Executive Director Renée Logee said. "We're simply meeting a need of the community and we're happy to do so."
Safe & Sound, Milwaukee County Department of Health and Human Services, the Office of Community Wellness and Safety, and Equus Workforce Solutions had tables on site with additional community resources.
