Two Shot, One Dead After Gun Fight in Milwaukee

The Milwaukee Police Department is investigating a homicide and a related shooting that occurred in the 800 block of West Galena Street at about 6:00 PM Sunday evening. Following a physical altercation between at least two people, members of an on looking crowd began to exchange gunfire.  

As a result of the exchange, a 22-year-old Milwaukee woman was shot and a 24-year-old Milwaukee man was killed. The woman was brought to a local hospital by the Milwaukee Fire Department and her injuries are not life threatening.   

The man was shot and entered a vehicle to flee the scene; he drove to the 1000 block of the West Walnut Street bridge and crashed into its north retaining wall where he died from his injuries.   

There are no suspects in custody at this time. MPD continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding this event.  

The bridge was not damaged in the crash.
