Two injured, one airlifted, one arrested after Waukesha County crash Friday night

MERTON, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Friday night just before 10:30 Waukesha County Dispatch got a call of a car crash near Hartling road and Ridgeview Lane in Merton. 

When deputies arrived, they found a single car with severe damage. A 46-year-old woman and 50-year-old man inside the car were both injured.

The man was taken by Flight for Life for critical injuries and the woman was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

During the investigation, officials learned that a second car involved in the crash left the scene. Deputies found that car in a driveway a short distance from the crash with damage consistent from the crash. The 40-year-old man who was driving the car was arrested.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
