Two hurt in one-car crash in Dane County, woman facing traffic charges

DANE COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) – Two people are in the hospital after a serious crash in the Town of Bristol, according to the Dane County Sheriff’s Office.

Police say they were called to a crash on Happy Valley Road near Briar Lane around 11:00 p.m. on Friday, November 24. When first responders arrived, they found that a westbound 2011 Ford Crown Victoria had lost control and hit a power pole and a tree. It’s believed speed and the driver’s condition were factors in the crash.

Deputies say a 48-year-old woman from Sun Prairie was not wearing her seatbelt and had to be flown to an area hospital due to her injuries. Her passenger, a 24-year-old Brooklyn man, was also hurt in the crash and taken by ambulance.

The Sheriff’s Office says the driver is facing traffic charges including OWI causing injury, passing in a no-passing zone, and no seatbelt. Alliant Energy responded to the scene to repair the damaged pole and power lines. Happy Valley Road was reopened about four hours after the crash.

The crash is still under investigation.
