Trying dispel myths about Pit Bulls

MILWAUKEE - Saturday was Pit Bull Appreciation Day. There were events all around the country including here in Milwaukee trying to dispel the perception that pit bulls are dangerous dogs. Cindy Steinly of Milwaukee has served on the board of the Chicagoland Bully Breed Rescue organization for the last 10 years. She says some pit bulls are violent because their owners raise them to be. Steinly's organization rehabilitates pit bulls and other bull breed dogs that have been forced to fight or just come from owners who have raised them to be violent. Steinly says even pit bulls that have been fighters before can be trained to be loving pets. There are numerous organizations where you can adopt a bull breed dog like a pit bull including The Barking Lot in Milwaukee and Milwaukee Pets Alive.
