MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) – An organization that works to improve the community is asking for help after the vehicle it depends on was stolen.
Kompost Kids says its 1999 Chevrolet pick-up truck was stolen from a worksite near S. Marina Dr. and E. Stewart St. sometime between Wednesday evening and Saturday morning.
“It’s really frustrating,” Kompost Kids board secretary and volunteer Marion Ecks said.
The organization works to turn food waste into soil and educate the community on compost. Ecks said whoever stole the truck broke into the locked property by cutting the fence.
The truck is a dark blue Chevy C Series 4. The license plate number is KH 5723. The truck has the Kompost Kids logo on the side and back.
Volunteers said they’re not only disappointed but frustrated because the truck helps them get the job done.
“We use the truck to do our work, so she moves equipment and soil,” Ecks said. “It’s an old truck but it meets our needs.”
Anyone with information on the stolen truck is asked to call Milwaukee Police.
