MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Attorneys for the man charged with killing officer Michael Michalski were in court Wednesday, the same day another officer was killed in the line of duty.
On July 25, 2018, Officer Michalski was shot and killed near 28th and Wright Streets. Michalski and other officers were looking for a suspect, 31-year-old Jonathan Copeland, wanted for gun and drug violations when the shooting took place.
Michalski was a 17-year veteran of the Milwaukee police force.
Copeland was not in the courtroom for Wednesday's pretrial hearing. His trial is scheduled to begin on Monday.
