Train hits and kills grandfather on Sunday morning in Kenosha County

KENOSHA COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A grandfather is dead after he was hit by a train in western Kenosha County on Sunday, Aug 3.
According to the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened near County Highway W and 45th Street late Sunday morning. The man who was killed was inside a vehicle when he was hit. Flight for Life was called to the scene.
Matthew Snorek, who said he has lived in the rural area for nearly 15 years, says trains come frequently and can often be disregarded.
"A lot of these tracks are running through private property; they are splitting farms in half. So as farmers and workers are going back and forth, it’s easy to get complacent," said Matthew Snorek.
Snorek took a photo of the large response after the crash.
“I noticed a barrage of first responder vehicles, a mixture of ambulances and fire trucks and all kinds of rescue vehicles," Snorek said.
There are still details from officials that have not been released.
“It’s really, really sad," said Snorek. "You think about it, that’s somebody’s mom, dad, sister, child, neighbor, coworker, we don’t know who they are but, I can guarantee this: there’s people who live and care about them, and this is going to affect them a lot.”
A CBS 58 reporter spoke with the family of the victim, who said it was their grandfather who was killed. The family said they did not wish to provide further details or speak on camera at this time while they grieve his loss.
