Train derails in Milwaukee neighborhood

MILWAUKEE -- Parts of South Clement Avenue in Milwaukee are closed to traffic after a freight train derailment. It happened around 9 a.m. Sunday.

The train was carrying clay, cement, and a few other items when it came off the tracks. The train was on its way to Chicago at the time. Crews are working to get those train cars back on the track with cranes, but so far no luck.

There are four investigative teams looking for a cause to the problem including. They are considering human error, issues with the track, a mechanical problem with the rail cars, and other possible issues like weather.

Union Pacific says each team does a separate investigation before they determine an official cause.

Residents in the area heard the loud noise and say they're thankful no one was injured in the accident.
