MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- At Milwaukee's City Hall on Wednesday, July 22, the city's Department of Public Works (DPW) committee signed off on a proposal to build traffic calming installations on busy Brady Street this summer. 

The proposal calls for three raised crosswalks and six islands on the east side street where reckless driving has been a problem. 

"Everybody is really excited about having the traffic calming on Brady Street. It's really needed," said Anna Antoine, executive director with Brady Street BID. "People are speeding down Brady Street and they're just, they're just going."

The Brady Street Business Improvement District (BID) has agreed to pay the entire levy assessment for the project. That's a bill that would normally be picked up by the property owners.
