Tracking fog, scattered showers and stronger storms

NOW: Tracking fog, scattered showers and stronger storms

Noon Update: The National Weather Service has extended the Dense Fog Advisory and added all the lakeshore counties with lingering fog expected to last into tomorrow morning.

The Advisory now runs until 6am. The rest of the forecast remains on track! However, even the Severe Weather Outlook has shifted north putting most of our viewing area under a level two risk for severe storms Friday night into very early Saturday morning.

Very thick, dense fog has held overtop of most of us this morning with visibilities under a half a mile.  Fog is expected to stick around through the end of the work week, but the worst of the fog should wrap up by noon today, which is when our Dense Fog Advisory expires.

A few scattered showers have entered overnight and will continue to hold through this afternoon.  Most stay dry, but the rain chance is possible.  Cooler temps today courtesy of a northeast wind will keep severe storms well to our south.

A warm front will start to lift Friday morning, allowing for a breezy south wind to develop which should help temps get back closer to 60 degrees.  By this time, a system developing near Missouri will have the potential (with the warmer air), to become stronger.

Right now, SE WI is under a Level 2/5 Slight Risk for areas farther southwest and under a Level 1/5 Marginal Risk areas north for potential severe weather.  Stronger storms and heavier rain look to see their best chance to move in around the lunch hour with our main risks being hail and gusty winds.  A better chance for tornadic activity -- while it cannot be completely ruled out -- will be farther into Southwest WI.

This system comes in 2 rounds with the first round slowly wrapping up by tomorrow evening.  The second round will then develop overnight into early Saturday morning.
