Tracking another round of strong storms tonight

NOW: Tracking another round of strong storms tonight
NEXT:

It's a nice and quiet start to our Thursday as high pressure from yesterday holds off to our east, and most of today is quiet and dry with sun.

Low pressure is developing up to the northwest, and out ahead of it, a warm front is lifting.  This front will usher in a breezy south wind for this afternoon and as that happens, we will warm up!  High temperatures are expected to get into the mid-70s and even closer to the low-80s farther inland.  This southerly wind will also allow for warmer dew point temperatures, and as we those get back into the 60s on top of sunshine and warm air, it becomes the right recipe for severe weather.

The worst of the system is expected to be where the bullseye of the warm front hold this morning, which is down to our southwest into Wichita area.  Most of Wisconsin, including all of our areas are under a Level 1/5 or Marginal Risk, meaning stronger storms are a possibility.  Our primary threat is damaging winds with a low tornado threat, as this storm chance is mainly overnight.  The best timing for anything to hit our area would be between 10pm-2am.

Rain chances hold through daybreak tomorrow before rain and clouds exit and we head into the weekend with sunshine.  A cold front does, though, follow behind our storms tonight which will bring a small cool down until Monday.
