TOWN OF EAST TROY, Wis. (CBS 58) – The Town of East Troy Police Department is asking residents to refrain from calling police or 911 for howling coyotes or coyote sightings.

The police department posted a note on Facebook saying, Coyotes are usually nocturnal, but they do show themselves during the day. Just because you see one or hear one does not mean you should call the police. No, do not call 911”.

The post went on to say there is cause for alarm for coyotes if they are doing one of the following:

  • Coyotes dropping anvils from hot air balloons
  • Coyotes in possession of a giant magnet
  • Coyotes in possession of “TNT”
  • Coyotes carrying product marked “ACME”
  • Coyotes posting signs such as “detour” or “free bird seed”
  • Coyotes in possession of a catapult
  • Coyotes on roller skates with rockets attached
