'Tosa for Tots' to aid Salvation Army's Toy Shop program in Milwaukee County
WAUWATOSA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The holiday season only intensifies the need for toys in Milwaukee County, with two drive-thru events in Wauwatosa this weekend poised to make a significant impact in the area.
The Wauwatosa Lions Club and The Suburban Milwaukee Lions Club are spearheading the effort, known as "Tosa for Tots," to gather new, unwrapped toys for the Salvation Army of Milwaukee County's Toy Shop program, directly benefiting local families by providing toys for children in need.
To kick off the event, toys will be accepted at The Lions Club at 7336 St. James St. from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 9. The effort will continue on Sunday at Alioto’s at 3041 N Mayfair Rd. from 1 to 4 p.m.
During these times, volunteers will be present to collect donations, and free hot chocolate will be served.
The Toy Shop program, facilitated by the Salvation Army, ensures that these donations reach families in mid-December. According to the Salvation Army, the Toy Shop program successfully distributed 46,000 toys to 6,500 children in 2022.
