Three people injured in car crash in Waukesha

WAUKESHA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- On Sunday May 2, 2021, at approximately 4:36 p.m., the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a multi-vehicle crash in the construction zone on I-43 at the bridge to Guthrie Road.

Authorities say a total of three individuals were transported to a local hospital for treatment of injuries.

From the initial investigation, officials believe an SUV operated by a 17-year-old male, struck the guardrail connected to the bridge and became entangled in it.

As vehicles stopped to avoid this, another three-vehicle collision occurred behind it.

The northbound lanes of I-43 were closed for the crash investigation and clean up for several hours late Sunday afternoon.

The Waukesha County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Big Bend Police Department, Mukwonago Police Department, as well as the fire departments of Big Bend, Mukwonago, Vernon, and Tess Corners.

This crash remains under investigation by the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Office.
