Three Injured after SUV crosses Middle Lane Hitting U-Haul
On Saturday, March 19 at 12:22 PM The Walworth County Sheriff’s Dispatch received a report of a motor vehicle crash on State Highway 36 east of Overhill Court in the Town of Lyons.
According to a release from police, upon the arrival of Deputies it was determined two vehicles had been involved in the crash. Initial investigation and witness statements indicated a 2003 Acura SUV had been traveling westbound on State Highway 36 before crossing the double yellow center line striking a U-HAUL.
The Acura was operated by Philip S. Carney Jr. a 70-years-old resident of Lake Geneva, WI. Carney sustained critical injuries and was flown to a local trauma center by Flight for Life. Carney's wife, Carol, 69-years-old, was in the front passenger seat and sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital.
The driver of the U-HAUL was identified as Donald Oliver Wilkens a 52-year-old resident of Burlington. Wilkens sustained minor injuries and was transported to the hospital.
State Highway 36 was closed to all traffic for five hours because of the accident.
