MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Mayor Cavalier Johnson visited Upstart Kitchen in the Sherman Park neighborhood Monday, March 7.
He toured the facility and met with several entrepreneurs renting the space.
Upstart Kitchen opened in 2020 and offers support services like mentoring and community connections.
The goal is to help aspiring food entrepreneurs start and grow their businesses by using a shared commercial kitchen on site.
"I encourage more people to learn about Upstart Kitchen if you're an entrepreneur, especially, but if you're somebody that just wants to support entrepreneurs who are coming from the ground level to provide goods and services in Milwaukee, this is a place you ought to know," Mayor Johnson said.
Upstart Kitchen has helped dozens of people earn licenses from the city of Milwaukee.
Right now, at least 310 people are on the waiting list.
