Third Annual Nochebuena (Christmas Eve) Celebration by the Intergenerational Orchestra

Nochebuena will bring live, intergenerational Puerto Rican and American holiday music and festivities to various locations throughout Milwaukee.

A small group of people begin the "Asalto Avideño," or Christmas Assault, by congregating at one place. They are then followed and joined by other musicians and singers throughout the city.

The musicians will begin at 10:00 a.m. at the United Community Center's Senior Center and will then move to Milwaukee's City Hall Rotunda, including Mayor Tom Barrett's Office at 12:00 p.m. At 5:15 p.m., the group will continue to Walker's Square to neighborhood homes surrounding the park.

The last stop of the Asalto will be the Nochebuena Concert at Café El Sol at 6:30 p.m., where the music will continue with singing and dancing until 8:30 p.m.

"I'm looking forward to participating in this festive holiday celebration," said Alderman Jose Perez. "And I'm honored that the musicians will stopping at my house!"

The event is co-sponsored by Caché, a local, acclaimed Latino music group led by Milwaukee music veterans, an Afro-Latino youth performance ensemble co-founded by Cecilio Negrón, Jr. and a youth cultural arts curator, Johanna de los Santos.
