Very snowy winter so far takes a break
WAUKESHA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- People of all abilities got a prom of their own Friday night.
RiverGlen Church in Waukesha hosted the party.
It's for students with special needs, ages 14 and older. About 100 kids got to enjoy the fun.
The kids got full hair and makeup, their shoes shined, even a trip down the red carpet.
Organizers say it takes about 200 volunteers to make the magic happen.
"Most people that have attended in the years previous have come again," said volunteer coordinator Jeremy Haberer. "We've increased our attendance every year. They just love it and go home with a smile on their face. The parents and caregivers of the people attending just tell us how much they enjoy this event."
The "Night to Shine" is the third annual event of its kind at RiverGlen.
Four other prom nights are planned at churches across the area.
