MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Just as people are recovering from a busy weekend in Milwaukee, it's time for another popular annual event.

The calendar is jampacked this summer, with Milwaukee living up to its billing as "the city of festivals."

Milwaukee is a festival destination throughout the summer, and it isn't slowing down.

Some setup is already underway at Bradford Beach for the Air and Water Show starting Saturday -- another big event on the lakefront after a very busy weekend.

"It's great to have so many people who are interested in Milwaukee and coming to see how wonderful we are," said Alderman Jonathan Brostoff. "And actually, the Harley fest brought people from all over the world. I met people from Brazil and all over."

Harley-Davidson Homecoming brought tens of thousands of people to Milwaukee for a music festival at Veterans Park.

Teardown efforts are still underway there. Harley-Davidson is already planning an event for next year, turning what used to happen every five years into an annual celebration.

At the same time, Bastille Days celebrated their 40th anniversary in Cathedral Square Park on Milwaukee's east side.

Organizers there estimate more than 100,000 people passed through over the four-day celebration of the French Revolution.

This year marked the true return of festivals in their full form post-pandemic, bringing what's expected to be a significant economic impact.

"Crowded, lot of people having fun," said Alderman Robert Bauman. "Lot of bars and restaurants doing great business, hotels filled up to the brim. Overall, I think it was a very good weekend for the city."

We're still waiting on final attendance numbers from Harley-Davidson.

Next up, the Air and Water Show. VIP tickets are already on sale.
