Tennessee public official under fire for viral YouTube video

TENNESSEE (WSMV) -- A Franklin, TN alderman is under fire after making a controversial YouTube video explaining his hot/crazy matrix guide to women.

\"It's what you need to know about how to deal with women and how to analyze the situation that you may be in or want to be in,\" said Franklin Alderman Dana McLendon on the video.

McLendon is an alderman in Franklin and an attorney specializing in criminal and family law.

The video, posted to YouTube just 10 days ago, has already tallied more than 600,000 views.

In it, McLendon refers to himself as a \"terrorist mouthpiece\" and said he developed a hot–crazy scale based on his own personal experiences.

It seems to be a reference to a scene from the TV show How I Met Your Mother, but McLendon takes it much further.

\"Hot is measured from 0 to 10. We're all familiar with that,\" said McLendon on the video. \"Crazy is measured from 4 to 10, because there's no such thing as a woman who's not, at least, a four crazy.\"

McLendon advises not to date or hand around a woman who isn't at least a five on the hot scale, and then explained the so-called \"danger zone.\"

\"Above the crazy line we have your danger zone,\" said McLendon on the video. \"This is your redheads, your strippers, anyone named Tiffany, hairdressers.

\"This is where your car gets keyed. You get a bunny in the pot, your tires get slashed and you wind up in jail.\"

The graphic scale he created for men is much simpler, based only on their looks and money.

McLendon declined an on-camera interview Thursday night, but Channel 4 News did speak with him by phone.

He told Channel 4 News, \"It is what it is.\"

The spokeswoman for the city released a statement.

\"The City of Franklin was not in any way involved in the YouTube video featuring Mr. McLendon. The viewpoints presented in the video do not reflect the views of the City of Franklin.\"

While vice mayor in Franklin, McLendon advocated for allowing guns in City Hall. In the video, he has a gun holstered on his hip.
