Ten displaced by apartment fire in Delavan

Ten people were displaced by a fire in an apartment complex in Delavan this morning.   According to the Delavan Fire Department, the fire was discovered just after midnight in the four unit apartment building on Parish Court near Parish Street.   The fire was confined to a storage area in the basement of the apartment building.   Delavan firefighters had the fire under control in about 15 minutes but remained on scene for about three hours.  According to Delavan Police and Fire Chief Tim O’Neill, the residents of the building were alerted to the fire by smoke detectors and began to evacuate the structure.   They were assisted by three Delavan Police officers who arrived on scene soon after the alarm was sounded.  There were no injuries.  The Red Cross is assisting six people from two families with housing.  The other four people are being assisted by family members.   The amount of damage to the building has not been determined and the Wisconsin Fire Marshall is investigating the cause of the fire.
