Teenager on Probation Arrested for Carjacking Woman in Riverwest
A Milwaukee teenager, on probation from the Wisconsin State Juvenile Department of Corrections, was arrested by Milwaukee Police officers after carjacking a female victim in the Riverwest Neighborhood.
According to a release by Milwaukee Police, officers responded to the 2900 block of N. Humboldt Boulevard around 11:50 a.m. on May 29 for a report of an armed robbery and were told the male suspect approached the victim, a 31-year-old woman, pointed a gun at her, and demanded her car keys.
The suspect fled the scene in the victim’s car, a 2012 Honda Civic, but was spotted a few minutes later by officers in the area.
The officers began to pursue the vehicle until the car got a flat tire near N. 42nd Street and W. Silver Spring Drive and the suspect fled on foot. The suspect, a 16-year-old Milwaukee male, was taken into custody and officers found a stolen gun on him.
The suspect has previous arrests for Battery, Criminal Damage to Property, Theft, Operating Vehicle Without Owner’s Consent-Passenger, Possession of Dangerous Weapon by Person Under 18. Milwaukee Police will present this case to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office in the coming days for charges.
According to police, 195 adults arrests and 84 juveniles since December 2015 for carjackings.
