KENOSHA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- It's not something you see every day, but a real blast from the past could be spotted on Lake Michigan in Kenosha Thursday -- tall ships.
The Tall Ships Challenge travels through the Great Lakes every three years. Over the course of ten weeks, a core fleet of ships make their way through Lake Erie and Lake Huron before traveling to Lake Michigan with ports in Green Bay and Kenosha.
The festivals in port cities offer an opportunity for people to explore the vessels and meet the crew.
"We get to see these ships go up and down all weekend long, and it's not something that you get to see every single week in here," James Kraak said. "That one ship has so many sails and masts, it's got so many sails, it's just awesome."
The event runs until Sunday, August 4.
