Suspected drunk driver kills passenger in Kenosha County

KENOSHA CO--A suspected drunk driver loses control of his vehicle and crashes on Highway 45 near Highway 50 in the Village of Bristol.


The car was traveling southbound on Highway 45 around 1:50 a.m. when the driver lost control in a curve.


The vehicle slid sideways into a ditch and struck a culvert and rolled over multiple times.


The vehicle then hit a fire hydrant and utility pole, snapping the utility pole off.


The two men in the vehicle were on the way home from Stumble Inn Tavern.


The passenger died as a result of his injuries.


The driver was taken to Aurora Hospital for treatment of his injuries. He was placed under arrest for homicide by intoxicated use of a motor vehicle.


Officials believe that speed was also a factor in the crash. The driver received other traffic citations as well.


The names of the occupants are not being released at this time.


Highway 45 was shut down for hours as officials investigated the crash.
